okay. i'm writing a story in verse form and i'll be posting the lyrics to some of the songs in the order things happen. this is some background to The Ohio Chronicles.

Character List.

Ohio: protagonist. sentenced to death for treason, the last city of men. joins Regiment 408,  a rebel squad of other exiles who intend to take back the city from the Parasite who rules it. becomes kind of like a messiah to his men.

Cassie: Ohio's lover. she goes with him into the regiment "to be with him". she is a traitor who works for the Parasite. she is ultimately responsible for Ohio's descent into madness and the destruction of Regiment 408. Ohio kills her when he discovers that she alerted the Parasite to their whereabouts.

Velorium: Regiment 408's commander.Velorium frees Ohio from imprisonment by the Parasite's hunters. he is a father figure to Ohio and is infected with The Mother Mary virus by Cassie. Ohio is forced to kill him to protect the rest of his men.

Annabella: one of Haven's guardian spirits who breaks away from the protecting the city to help Ohio. Ohio believes she is his mother, but it is never completely confirmed. she sacrifices herself to save Ohio from The Saint Of Killers.

The Parasite: The ruler of Haven. a parasitic entity that has a peculiar connection to Ohio. it's body was a scientist who was infected with a premature version of The Mother Mary virus that latched into his brain. it's body is severely mutated and those infected with the virus serve it. it hoped to kill Ohio by sentencing him to death to prevent him from realizing his potential.

The Saint Of Killers: a bounty hunter who was hired by the Parasite to kill Ohio. his skin is mostly rotted away and he he wears an old hat and a tattered leather jacket. Annabella jumps in front of his attack to save Ohio and is killed. Ohio kills the Saint in his resulting rage.

Patrick: one of the soldiers in the Regiment. he buries Annabella and watches Ohio torture Cassie to death. he is killed by one of the Parasite's hunters in the slaughter that ensues after Cassie tells The Parasite where they are camped.

Story:

it begins in the Parasite's dungeon where Ohio has been sentenced to death for treason. Velorium breaks him out and Ohio joins his band of rebel soldiers. his lover, Cassie goes with them. Ohio is haunted by strange dreams of monstrous creatures and mutations that kill him and his friends from the day he leaves the city. the guardian spirit, Annabella tells him that he is a messianic being and that the dreams he is having are vague visions of the future. they travel by night to return to the city and reclaim it for Rule By The People again. they are pursued by The Saint Of Killers, a bounty hunter. he attacks Ohio while he is having a private conversation with Annabella. She jumps in between him and Ohio and is stabbed through the chest. Ohio pulls the Saint's head off in a rage and tries to save Annabella. she tells him that she wishes she could have watched him grow old and dies. Patrick buries her body and they have a funeral for her. Velorium becomes suspicious of Cassie when he hears her muttering something into a communicator in her tent one night. she becomes aware of his suspicions and, fearing he will kill her, gives the hunters the signal to destroy the Regiment and infects Velorium with The Mother Mary Virus while he sleeps. it is a slaughter. Ohio is kills Velorium and swears revenge on Cassie. All but Ohio and Patrick are killed by the hunters. Cassie goes missing in the melee. Ohio and Patrick continue to march onward towards the city. Cassie appears with a hunter along the way and has it attack them. Ohio gets the hunter tangled in the foliage and ties Cassie to a tree. he tortures her for hours and finally kills her, telling her "I'm not your boy anymore". Patrick goes to kill the hunter and is ripped to pieces as it escapes from it's vine-y prison. Ohio kills it with his recently realized power. he returns to the city a broken man. he goes to his now abandoned house and proceeds to drive himself insane as Cassie's eyes in her final moments haunt him and follow him into madness. he sees visions of Velorium, Annabella, Cassie, and Patrick telling him to kill himself to sever the ties he has with the Parasite. during one of these visions, the Parasite itself becomes aware of what is happening to Ohio and goes to the house to stop him. the two have a massive struggle that threatens to tear their souls apart and Ohio stabs himself through the heart. the Parasite stares in shock for a moment and falls to the floor. Ohio forgives Cassie as he bleeds to death.
